Niels graduated with a Dipl.Ing degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Applied Science Hamburg, Germany in 2000; obtained his MSc degree in Technology Management from the University of Portsmouth, UK in 2001 and was awarded his PhD degree in Manufacturing Engineering and Operations Management from the University of Nottingham, UK in 2006. He joined Loughborough University in 2014 as Senior Lecturer in the EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Intelligent Automation. In 2017 Niels became Intelligent Automation's Centre Director. Wen-Hua obtained his BEng in Industrial Automation from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Jiangsu University in 1986 and subsequently his MSc and PhD in Control Engineering from the Department of Automatic Control at Northeastern University, China, in 1989 and 1991, respectively. Matthew is a Lecturer in Unmanned Vehicles at Loughborough University. He has considerable experience in developing and operating autonomous platforms, including system and control design, sensor integration and testing. He has research experience in a number of areas related to autonomous vehicles, some of which include UAS forced landing, situational awareness, autonomous taxiing, mission planning optimisation for agricultural aerial surveying and crop spraying, as well as sensor fusion and tracking for Counter-UAS. Michael Henshaw is Professor of Systems Engineering at Loughborough University. He is head of the Systems Division and leads the Engineering Systems of Systems (EsoS) Research Group. His research focuses on integration and management of complex socio-technical systems, with a particular emphasis on the challenges of through-life management of systems and capabilities. The main research topics studied include modelling of Systems of Systems (SoS), Systems Lifecycles, Network Enabled Capability (NEC), management of knowledge for through-life management (TLM), cyber-security, pilot training, C2, and autonomous robotic systems. Peter graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a MEng in Mechanical Engineering and a Diploma of Industrial Studies. During his studies he spent one year at the Danish Technical University as part of the Erasmus exchange programme. He remained at Birmingham to study for his PhD in Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS), which was funded by EPSRC and GE Sensing; his thesis investigated Novel Micro Mechanical Structures and Manufacturing Processes Suitable for Improving the Performance of MEMS Resonant Pressure Sensors. Yalei Yu received his Batchelors degree in Nautical Science from Zhejiang Ocean University, Zhoushan, China in 2016, and his Masters degree in Transportation Information Engineering and Control from Dalian Maritime University, Dalian, China in 2019.
